Adult Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu teaches practical ground-based self-defense using leverage, positioning, and technique to overcome larger or stronger opponents. Whether you’re brand-new or ready to advance, BJJ builds strength, endurance, coordination, confidence, and real-world skills.

Beginner BJJ (Foundations Class)

  • Perfect for students with no experience. This class focuses on essential positions, escapes, defenses, and basic submissions. You’ll develop confidence, learn safe movement, and build the fundamentals needed to move into mixed-level classes.
  • Detailed instruction with real-time feedback from experienced instructors.
  • Great for: absolute beginners, adults returning to fitness, anyone wanting to learn how to defend themselves

Intermediate BJJ

  • After gaining comfort with the basics, you can join our mixed-level BJJ sessions. These classes include technique instruction, partner drilling, positional training, and live grappling.
  • Students learn takedowns, submissions, control positions, and defensive strategies with precise details and real-time instructor feedback
  • Great for: students progressing out of fundamentals and experienced students looking to advance.

Positional Drills, Rolling

  • This Intermediate Positional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class emphasizes positional drills and live rolling to refine technique, transitions, timing, and strategic awareness. Training builds consistency, control, and problem-solving through structured instruction and supervised grappling.
  • Instructor approval required for beginners.

All Levels No Gi BJJ

  • No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu focuses on grappling, control, and submissions without the traditional gi. Training is done in athletic wear, emphasizing body positioning, grip fighting, speed, and real-world application. Classes build skill progressively—covering takedowns, ground control, escapes, and submissions—while improving conditioning, coordination, and confidence.
  • Detailed instruction with real-time feedback from experienced instructors.
  • Suitable for beginners and experienced students alike.

Belt Progression

  • Students begin as white belts and progress through the traditional belt system. Stripes are earned through demonstrated improvement, and after four stripes students may test for their next belt. Belt tests focus on specific techniques that students actively prepare for in the weeks leading up to testing.
  • Belts are earned — not given.

Adult Kickboxing

Our Kickboxing program incorporates elements of Boxing, Kickboxing, and Muay Thai to build modern, effective stand-up skills. Build strength, speed, and confidence through structured, detail-focused training with real-time coaching.

Beginner Kickboxing

  • Perfect for students with no experience. Learn the basics of stance, footwork, punches, kicks, elbows, and knees — plus how to safely hold mitts, Thai pads, and kick shields. This fundamentals-only class focuses on confidence, technique, and movement, with no striking to the head or body.
  • Instructors consistently monitor and adjust technique so each student can progress safely and confidently.
  • Great for: total beginners, adults easing into fitness, anyone wanting a supportive start.

Intermediate Kickboxing

  • Once you’ve built a foundation, move into our mixed-level Kickboxing program. You’ll practice techniques in detail, work mitts and pads with partners, and learn Dutch-Style combinations where both partners stay active and engaged.
  • Optional controlled sparring is available with instructor approval
  • Great for: beginners progressing out of fundamentals and experienced strikers looking to refine technique.

Kickboxing Sparring

  • This class introduces controlled, light sparring with a strong focus on safety, technique, and instructor supervision. Students build confidence, timing, and defensive awareness through guided practice and real-time feedback.
  • Available to Orange Belt and above students with instructor approval.

BLAST Fitness

BLAST Fitness is a fast-paced, 60-minute workout that blends interval training, strength and endurance, kickboxing combos, and functional fitness. Each class includes a warm-up, full-body workout, mobility work, and a recovery cool down — with every movement scalable for your fitness level. This class is designed for everybody: beginners, returning athletes, and those ready to push hard.

What Is BLAST Fitness:

  • Interval-based training for strength and conditioning
  • Kickboxing-inspired cardio for endurance and coordination
  • Functional fitness movements for real-world strength
  • Mobility and flexibility work to support recovery and injury prevention

Beginner-Friendly & Adjustable

  • New to fitness? You’re in the right place. Students can start slow, pace themselves, and increase intensity over time. Instructors offer alternate movements to reduce impact, adjust difficulty, or avoid injury.
  • You’ll build confidence, strength, and endurance at a pace that keeps you motivated without pressure.

MMA Competition Team

Mixed Martial Arts blends Kickboxing, Stand-up, Wrestling, Judo, and BJJ into one powerful, modern self-defense and sport system. MMA training builds strength, coordination, confidence, and real-world skill by combining both stand-up and ground-based techniques.

MMA Team

  • Our MMA Team is designed for experienced students who want to train at a higher level. Team training includes:
    • Live sparring
    • Wrestling & cage work
    • Judo transitions
    • Grappling rounds
    • Strategy and fight preparation
  • Team members must have prior experience in MMA, Kickboxing, and/or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and be current Rothwell MMA members. Admission is by instructor approval only.
  • Ideal for advanced students seeking higher-level training and preparation for amateur or professional competition.
